Patch Notes & Update History

A dated record of every announcement Bellring Games has published about Mistfall Hunter, newest first. Balance changes on this site are traced back to these posts, so this page is where to check whether a class guide still reflects the current patch.

How to read this page

Two of these posts do most of the work. Developer Update #6 is where the build paths for every weapon were documented — for most classes it is still the only source that describes them. Developer Update #7 is the balance document, and it is unusually direct about which classes were winning: the developers used words like “overturned” and “overwhelming crowd-control chains” and then reduced the classes they applied them to.

Everything on this site that says a class was strong or weak traces back to those two posts plus the 30 July patch notes. Where a class page makes a claim, it names which of them it came from.

What is not here

Announcements about livestreams, weekend events and beta test scheduling are omitted — they are real posts, but they contain no mechanical information, so listing them would pad the history without helping anyone check a fact.

Season 1’s Soul Harvest feature is also worth watching for here rather than in the class guides. The developers said it would roll out progressively after launch rather than shipping complete, so its arrival will show up as an update rather than as something already documented.

Every official update, newest first

  1. Balance

Launch Rewards & July 30 Update

The first balance patch after launch, arriving one day into the game's life. Every class change targeted the Withered Knight's new Polearm & Shield stance, and the rest was bug fixes.

    • Polearm & Shield — Charged Dash: energy drain during the shield-raising charge phase slightly reduced, Tier-1 charged dash turning slightly improved
    • Polearm & Shield — Basic Attack: damage of the 1st and 3rd thrust hits slightly increased
    • Polearm & Shield — Spear Barrage: damage multiplier slightly increased
    • Polearm & Shield — Rainbow Piercer: energy cost and cooldown both slightly reduced
    • Polearm & Shield — Block: energy cost reduced
    • Fixed the Soul Tree bug that consumed an extra Soul of Return when summoning an extraction point
    • Fixed the Sorcerer's Flameblade visual effect not matching its actual damage range
    • Corrected the in-game description of the Sorcerer talent Chant Guard

  2. Known issues

    Known Issues

Published on launch day, listing twelve problems found in internal testing after the release build had already gone for store review. All of them were fixed in the update above.

    • Soul Tree / Soul of Return double-consumption bug
    • Sorcerer casting tutorial showing wrong key prompts in some languages
    • Items not splittable via the secondary menu — hotkey given as the workaround
    • Console matches failing to reconnect after a disconnect
    • Impassable areas in the General Harald encounter

  3. Balance

    Developer Update #7

The pre-launch balance document, and the single most useful post for anyone choosing a class. It states plainly which classes were overperforming, introduces the Path of Glory ranked system, and previews Season 1.

    • Shadowstrix reduced — named for too much mobility and overwhelming crowd-control chains; Crow Storm no longer stacks on stunned players
    • Blackarrow reduced — called slightly overturned in solo mode; special arrows nerfed while no-cost arrow talents were buffed
    • Seer Mace reduced — Shapeshift, Thorn Sigil, Paralysis Curse and Rune: Corruption all toned down; Rune: Drain buffed
    • Seer Catalyst — Healing Rune and Punishment Rune channel times cut; Ebb and Flow given a larger orb hitbox
    • Sorcerer — baseline spells can fast-cast on depleted energy; Crystal Icebolt cooldown now starts after firing
    • Mercenary — Perfect Parry window extended; both stances buffed for PvE
    • Withered Knight — Greatsword Parry unlocks earlier with a longer counter window; Polearm & Shield introduced with 6 new skills
    • Path of Glory ranked system introduced, retiring the Hunt Ranking, Gylden Hunt and Demon Hunt leaderboards

  7. Q&A

Gyldenhunters' Council Phase 1 — Community AMA

Thirty player questions answered across nine topics. This is where most of the game's design intent is documented, including several features the developers said they are not building.

    • Class balance is tuned around extraction rate deviation, not kills
    • No Duo matchmaking in the short term — it would split the matchmaking pool
    • Seasons expected to run 3-4 months, with resets and some long-term carryover
    • Top-tier gear comes most commonly from Mist Lords on Cataclysm difficulty
    • No salvaging system and no forging rework planned
    • Shields will never mitigate 100% of damage, but loadouts can build very high block reduction
    • Purchases confirmed cosmetic only — explicitly not pay-to-win
    • No team damage meters planned

The game launched on 29 July 2026 and received its first balance patch on 30 July, one day later. The developers have committed to synchronising all patch notes and their specific details to Discord alongside in-game notifications, and to publishing a new roadmap toward the end of each season.

What changed in the Mistfall Hunter 30 July update?

Every class change targeted the Withered Knight's Polearm & Shield stance, making it cheaper to hold open — reduced energy costs on Block and Rainbow Piercer, more basic attack and Spear Barrage damage, and better charged dash turning. The rest of the patch was bug fixes, including the Soul Tree extraction bug.
