Mistfall Hunter Tier List

The game is days old, so nobody has enough match data for a real community tier list yet. What does exist is the developers' own balance notes, which say plainly which classes were overperforming and which were fine. This ranking is derived from that language and nothing else.

Tier ranking from the 30 July balance notes

S

Shadowstrix

Dagger · Dual Blades

The only class the developers described as having overwhelming crowd-control chains and too much mobility, causing it to overperform in actual combat. Even after Crow Storm was stopped from stacking on stunned targets, a class that needed that much restraint was clearly winning fights.

S

Blackarrow

Bow — Archer and Hunter

Called slightly overturned in solo mode and overbearing in high-tier gear matches. The developers reduced its special arrows while buffing the no-cost arrow talents, so the ceiling came down but the floor went up.

A

Seer

Catalyst · Mace

Split verdict. The Mace stance was called slightly overturned with dominant disengage and chase, which is a strong signal. The Catalyst stance was called weak on raw damage but strong once you have proficiency. High skill floor, high ceiling.

A

Withered Knight

Greatsword · Polearm & Shield

The developers said its killing power was excellent and it was the most popular playtest class, but that heavy weapons felt sluggish and it lacked depth before Polearm & Shield arrived. With both stances live and the launch patch buffing its damage, it sits just below the classes that needed nerfing.

B

Sorcerer

Staff — Elemental and Stardust

Explicitly described as relatively balanced on kill and damage data. Its Ice chain-CC was flagged as oppressive in extreme scenarios, but the class as a whole was not called overperforming — and it carries the steep learning curve the developers mention twice.

B

Mercenary

Sword & Shield · Hammer

The clearest case of a balanced class. The developers said its data was relatively balanced and spent their changes on feel and PvE efficiency rather than reining anything in. Nothing about it was described as too strong.

Why this tier list is built this way

Most tier lists published in a game’s first week are guesses dressed up as analysis. There is no ranked data yet, no established meta, and not enough hours played for anyone’s intuition to be worth much.

There is one exception: the developers have the match data, and they tell you what it says every time they publish balance notes. When Bellring Games writes that a class is “overturned” or shows “overwhelming crowd-control chains” and then reduces it, that is a direct statement about which classes were winning.

So this ranking uses only that. Classes the developers reined in sit high. Classes they called balanced sit lower. No placement here comes from anyone’s personal impression of the game.

What this cannot tell you

Nerf language says a class was strong before the patch, not necessarily after it. A class that gets reduced can land exactly where the developers wanted and end up mid-tier in practice.

It also says nothing about how a class feels to play, or how it performs in your hands. The Seer and the Sorcerer both carry learning curves the developers mention explicitly; a strong class you keep misplaying is worse than a fair class you know well.

This page will be rewritten once real match data exists.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tier list based on match data?

No, and no honest tier list for this game is yet. It is derived from the language Bellring Games used in their own balance notes — which classes they described as overperforming or overturned, and which they called balanced. That is the best available signal days after launch.

What patch is this Mistfall Hunter tier list for?

The 30 July 2026 update, the first balance patch after the 29 July launch. Extraction games retune frequently, so expect this order to move.

Does the tier list matter much in Mistfall Hunter?

Less than in most ARPGs. Talent trees let you build toward assault, mobility, crowd control or defence within any class, and the developers have said extraction-rate deviation between classes is kept relatively small by design.
